The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Friday said the technical issue in the Delhi airport air traffic control's messaging system has been fixed and the system is "up and functional now".
A technical issue in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) had caused flight delays at Delhi airport. The aviation authority said due to backlogs, there may be some delays in the normal functioning of automated operations, and the situation will be normal soon.
Over 800 flights were delayed, and a few flights were cancelled after a technical glitch was noticed in the AMSS at India's busiest airport on November 6. The automated system provides the flight plans for the air traffic controllers. More than 1,500 flight movements are handled daily at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

"The OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) was engaged, and additional staff were deployed to manually process flight plans for the Air Traffic Control system to ensure uninterrupted and safe air traffic operations immediately," AAI said in a statement.
"A team of ECIL officials and AAI personnel is still on site. The AMSS systems are up and functional now. Due to some backlogs, there may be some delays in the normal functioning of automated operations, but the situation will be normal soon," it added.
