On the day of the festival, Asha Rani, her husband Tarsem Lal, and their granddaughter visited a friend to join the celebrations. The moon was not sighted, and so the group began dancing to songs. Shortly before Rani collapsed, she was dancing to Harbhajan Mann's song, which goes 'Mauj Mastiyaan Maar, Pata Nahin Ki Hone, Kal Suba Nu Yaar, Pata Nahin Ki Hone' (Have fun, who knows what will happen, who knows what will happen tomorrow morning).
