Hyderabad weather: Heavy rains to continue in Telangana; IMD issues yellow alert

Heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Telangana on Friday and Saturday. Heavy rains have been wreaking havoc in the state in the past few days.

"Heavy to very heavy rain may persist from 27th to 29th August," the India Meteorological Department said in a tweet, adding, "Residents are advised to stay updated with local advisories, avoid low-lying areas, and plan accordingly for safety and preparedness."

IMD issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad for Friday.

Weather expert T. Balaji has predicted moderate rains in Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mulugu, Khammam, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy, Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Gadwal, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, and Suryapet in the state, according to a report in Siasat.

At least five people have died in various rain-related incidents during the current spell of rains since Wednesday.

As many as 1,500 people were rescued over the past two days by personnel of fire services, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and other agencies, according to officials.

Widespread damage was reported due to heavy rains in Kamareddy and Medak districts. Several low-lying areas and agricultural fields were inundated following the downpour in Kamareddy and other districts.

Meanwhile, the Chief PRO of South Central Railway (SCR) said 69 trains were cancelled and 18 trains were partially cancelled since Wednesday due to water overflowing on tracks at different locations in its Hyderabad Division.
