A couple of days after Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked at a public event, there was more drama at her first programme since the assault, in Gandhi Nagar on Friday.
A man was detained for raising slogans during the programme, reportedly following an argument with traders. He was immediately escorted out of the venue by security personnel.
Gupta addressed the inaugural event of Vastrika, an open market garment show by the Gandhi Nagar wholesale market. She announced local MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely as the chairman of the Yamuna Paar Vikas Board.

The man was later identified as Praveen Sharma, 60, who runs a cable TV business in Ajeet Nagar. He claimed he was a BJP worker and that he has been associated with the party for four decades. He raised slogans against Arvinder Singh Lovely.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said Sharma was standing in a street behind security barricades and that “security of the VIP was not breached at any point in time”.

It was CM Gupta's first public appearance since the attack. She was allegedly assaulted by a 41-year-old man at her Civil Lines Camp Office residence during a 'Jan Sunwai' programme on Wednesday.
Rajesh Sakariya, the man accused of attacking Gupta, is an autorickshaw driver. He was sent to police custody for five days by a local court. Police said that during interrogation, Sakariya said he had planned to stage a protest at Ramleela Ground against the Supreme Court's (earlier) order on relocating stray dogs. He said he was upset with the order and had gone to Delhi CM’s programme to raise the issue of stray dogs.
"The accused attacked the chief minister after he failed to raise the issue before her,” PTI quoted a police officer as saying.
Following the attack on the CM on Wednesday, S.B.K Singh was replaced by senior IPS officer Satish Golcha as the Delhi Police Commissioner. Golcha, a 1992-batch officer from the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre, assumed charge at the Delhi Police Headquarters.
