Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the BJP would secure 25% of the votes in the upcoming local body elections as the people of Kerala will break free from the usual UDF-LDF pattern. He was speaking at the inaugural session of the Manorama News Conclave 2025 in Kochi on Friday.
In Tripura, the BJP had only 1% of the votes but now is in power. Similarly, in Assam, where they only had two MLAs, today they govern with a full majority, he pointed out. In Kerala too, the BJP has a strong base as there are people who believe in the BJP's ideology. Amit Shah also said that he is ready for a debate with Pinarayi Vijayan regarding the disaster relief fund.
Hundreds of BJP party workers have sacrificed their lives for upholding the ideology and for the progress of Kerala. C. Sadanandan, who was nominated by the President to the Rajya Sabha, is one such person who lost both his legs, Amit Shah said. This not only strengthens the party but is also for the development of Kerala and to bring Kerala into the mainstream of development.
Some camps are spreading panic among minority communities by painting the BJP in a poor light, the Union Home Minister said . This concern is baseless, he added, before asking what difficulties the largest minority populations in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have faced under NDA rule.
Even in 2014, it was said by many that if the BJP came to power, minorities would face problems. But nothing of that sort happened. It is those with nothing to show in their work, a shallow personal history, and no meaningful achievements who spread such fear, Amit Shah said. The Home Minister said that the BJP government operates strictly in accordance with the law and is bound to protect the rights and entitlements of everyone.
