Former Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi slammed the Delhi government on passing the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees), 2025 Bill and said it takes away the rights of parents.
The Delhi Assembly passed the Delhi School Education Bill regulating fees at unaided schools in the national capital. Education Minister Ashish Sood tabled the Bill on Monday and it was passed after four-hour debate in the Assembly on Friday.
Lashing out at the Bharatiya Janata Party government, Opposition leader Atishi charged the Bill was not in favour of parents. "The private school bill is solely in favour of private schools. There is no provision for an audit in it, only 5 parents will be part of the fee committee, and they will be selected by lots. To file a complaint, at least 15 per cent of parents will have to come together, and the right to go to court has also been taken away," Atishi said.

"Whatever rights parents had earlier have now been snatched away by this Bill. Parents were already troubled by private schools, and now, through this bill, a government stamp has been put on the looting by private schools," the former chief minister charged.
During the discussion in the Assembly, AAP MLAs suggested eight changes to the Bill, however, the ruling party MLAs voted against it.
