Bihar Police have filed an FIR and launched an investigation after authorities found an alleged attempt to create a fake residential certificate of US President Donald Trump in Samastipur district.

According to reports, the application for the certificate was submitted online from Mohiuddinnagar block on July 29. The administration cancelled the application and registered a first information report at the Samastipur cyber police station on Wednesday.

"This certificate has not not been issued, but someone deliberately applied for it, and during the scrutiny, it was found to be false. An FIR has also been filed regarding this, and legal action is being taken. No such person will be spared," said a post on the official X account of the Samastipur district administration.

Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Brajesh Kumar also confirmed the fraudulent attempts being made to create fake certificates.

"An attempt was made to create a residence certificate in the name of Donald Trump. The investigation revealed that the card was being made through tampering. Information regarding this has been given to the cyber cell. An FIR will be lodged, and necessary action will be taken,” Kumar told ANI news agency.

The bizarre attempts to forge residence certificates are not new in Bihar. Applications were received in rural Patna and Nawada in the name of canines named 'dog babu', and 'dogesh babu', respectively. In East Champaran district, an application was received in the name of 'Sonalika tractor', with the photograph of a Bhojpuri actress.

The opposition, meanwhile, targeted the Election Commission, saying this was the biggest proof that the entire process of electoral roll revision in Bihar is a fraud and a way to steal votes.

“The fraud is now evident to all, which is what Congress and Mr. @RahulGandhiare fighting against. In such a situation, staying silent is a crime. So come, let's raise our voices together and become the guardians of democracy," said Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala.
