More chilling details of the Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput murder case were revealed by the Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday following the arrest of the accused Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil. According to investigation team, it was not a suddenly hatched plan but Meerut-based Muskaan, 27, has been plotting for months to murder her husband.
According to the latest media reports, the UP Police found out that Muskaan was planning to kill Saurabh Rajput at least since November last year. Sahil, a drug addict, was not part of the bigger conspiracy and was tricked to help her in the crime, the reports claimed.
When Muskaan learnt that her husband would be coming back to Meerut to celebrate their child's birthday, she bought two knives. The trader was told she needed the big kitchen knives to cut chicken, NDTV said in a report. The shrewd woman then went to a medical professional claiming that she was experiencing episodes of anxiety. The police reportedly said she knew pills prescribed for anxiety could make a person sleepy. She wanted to overdose Saurabh before stabbing him. After gaining the doctor's prescription, she added a couple of pills she found on the internet and obtained it from the chemist, the news report said.
Rastogi's sinister plan to kill husband in Meerut
Muskaan was also on the lookout for places to hide her husband once the deed was done. She enquired with her friends if they knew of places where she could bury puja leftovers. However, this attempt didn't materialise.
Since Saurabh Rajput's arrival from London on February 24, she had been trying to serve him heavily drugged alcohol but he didn't consume any, NDTV report said. It took many days before Muskaan and Sahil managed to stab him to death on March 4. Saurabh Rajput's body was reportedly cut into 15 pieces and put inside a drum which was with cement.
Later, Muskaan texted several of Saurabh's kin from his phone to give the impression that he was in Manali. She reportedly wanted the family to believe that he left for London from the hills and never returned. However, her plan failed when people became suspicious as he was not answering any calls. Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil confessed of having killed him when interrogated by the Meerut Police.
