Muskaan Rastogi, the woman accused of allegedly murdering her husband Saurabh Rajput with the help of he lover in Meerut, was using drugs, her parents reportedly suspect. Muskaan and her lover Sahil didn't want Saurabh to stop their drug use and decided to kill him, the Rastogis was quoted as saying by a news channel.
Muskaan Rastogi lost considerable body weight recently and her parents suspect it was due to drug abuse. Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil had gone on a trip to the hills after killing and dismembering Rajput's body on March 4. On their return, the 27-year-old woman confessed to her family that she killed her husband with Sahil's help. However, she received no support from her parents who loved Saurabh like their own son and was quickly taken to the police station.
Muskaan told them that she was using drugs along with Sahil and they feared Saurabh Rajput's return meant they couldn't do so any longer. Sahil's fear of their drug sessions coming to an end ultimately led to the gruesome murder, their daughter reportedly confessed before them.
When their son-in-law left for London, they were open to accommodate Muskaan. However, she didn't like the idea as she feared this would curtail her personal space and freedom. Saurabh Rajput was blindly in love with her and supported her decisions, they reportedly said.
Muskaan mother claimed that her daughter lost about 10 kilograms while her husband was away. While Rajput thought it was because she was upset about him being abroad, now they suspect it was a consequence of constant substance use, she added. Sadly, they didn't know back then that Sahil was pushing her to addiction, she told NDTV.
The gruesome Saurabh Rajput murder case
29-year-old Saurabh Rajput, a Merchant Navy officer, was stabbed to death by the duo who dismembered his body and sealed the remains in a drum filled with cement in Meerut. The body was recovered and both accused were arrested by the police.
After the victim became unreachable on phone, his family filed a complaint and the police detained his wife Muskaan and her lover, Sahil (25). During interrogation, the two confessed to stabbing Saurabh to death on March 4. The two then chopped up his body, placed the remains in a drum, and sealed it with cement. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and a case has been registered based on a complaint from Saurabh's family.
Police said Saurabh, from Brahmpuri's Indranagar Phase 2, had a love marriage Muskaan Rastogi from Gauripura in 2016. Their families were reportedly unhappy with their relationship, leading the couple to live separately in a rented house in Indranagar Phase 1 with their daughter.
