The state government is working hard and putting all its efforts into saving the lives of the eight people who are trapped inside,” Reddy said. He added Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi have extended all support for the rescue operation.

Telangana Tourism Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao, who is also at the site said, "The incident took place when the formation of rock loosened and water and sand entered the tunnel; water and mud are filled inside the tunnel in the run-up to 13km.” The minister added the chief minister is monitoring the rescue operations and the condition of trapped workers are yet to be ascertained.
