After AAP lost the Delhi assembly elections 2025 to BJP, many former associates and party colleagues expressed concern and hit out at the party leadership. Swaraj India president and former AAP member Yogendra Yadav, the 2025 Delhi election result was a “big shock” not just for the party but also for those who once believed in the idea of alternative politics in India.
He said Kejriwal and Sisodia’s failure to secure respective seats in their constituencies has raised a long question on AAP’s political future—as “the party won’t succeed in Gujarat” and “all of it will come down to Punjab only”. Near future “might test party’s unity too,” Yadav pointed to BJP’s possible cracking on AAP.
Yadav, who was expelled from the AAP in 2015 over indulgence in “anti-party” activities, alleged that BJP wishes to secure a “complete control”. “They are not happy with winning the election alone, they want ‘total dominance’,” he remarked.
Whereas, on the other hand, BJP leader and former AAP politician Kumar Vishwas called Kejriwal “characterless” and “selfish” and expressed “no sympathy” for the Aam Aadmi Party’s loss. Those who are still left in the party for the greed of politics and power, will now shift to their own businesses, Vishwas charged at AAP.
He also accused the Kejriwal government of exploiting individuals and claimed that the election results were “justice” for those affected.
Another former AAP associate and journalist Ashutosh called AAP’s defeat “a journey from dreamland to crashland”. Even though “the Delhi election results are shocking for both AAP and Arvind Kejriwal”, he stated in an article for a news website, they must accept what has come their way. He added that the liquor scam and corruption charges “dented” Kejriwal’s image.
“The AAP has lost almost 10% votes compared to its tally in the 2020 assembly elections”, however, it has managed to hold almost 43% of votes.
Swati Maliwal emerged on the foe-front of AAP when she was allegedly harassed by Kejriwal's personal secretary.

She blamed the party's defeat on “poor facilities provided by AAP”. Maliwal said that the Delhi public, having fed up with Kejriwal government, chose BJP instead.
Earlier during the day, Anna Hazare, who was the face of the anti-corruption movement had slammed Kejriwal saying candidate's conduct should be pure. "I told Kejriwal this but he ignored my advice. "He was overwhelmed by money and power."
