After facing defeat in the New Delhi seat and his party's debacle in the Delhi assembly elections, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal conceded defeat on Saturday evening.

The BJP was leading in 47 seats while AAP was restricted to just 23 seats.

Kejriwal said AAP accepts people's decision with humility and congratulated the BJP, expressing hope that the new government will fulfil the voters' expectations.

The AAP supremo said his government had done a lot of work in education, water, electricity, infrastructure and now the party will take on the job of a constructive opposition.

Kejriwal claimed that AAP is not in politics for power but to serve people, thanking party workers for their hard work.

Delhi CM Atishi who won in Kalkaji said AAP will continue fighting against the BJP's "dictatorship and hooliganism". "We accept the mandate. This is a setback but AAP's fight for the people of Delhi and the country will go on," she said.

Responding to the election results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said people's power is supreme, saying development and good governance have won in the Delhi polls. The PM promised that the BJP will ensure that the city gets all-round development under the new government.

Modi went on to say that the saffron party will ensure that Delhi plays a key role in India's development.

Expressing pride in the hard work of BJP workers, the PM said they will now serve the Delhi people with more strength.

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, who quit AAP in 2024, slammed Kejriwal, saying, "even Ravan's arrogance did not last."

Meanwhile, INDIA bloc allies expressed disappointment in the results, saying differences among member parties led to BJP's victory.
