The Delhi police have registered cases against Chief Minister Atishi and Aam Aadmi Party supporters for violating the poll code during the late hours of Monday. A case has also been registered against BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri's son and supporters over similar charges.

Delhi goes to polls on Wednesday and the silence period ahead of voting started on Monday, at 6pm. Delhi police tweeted a case has been registered against Manish Bidhuri, son of Ramesh Biduri, for violating the model code of conduct. Chief Minister Atishi alleged Manish Bidhuri, despite not being a voter of the constituency, was seen roaming in the area in violation of the poll code. However, Delhi police and election officials responded that the complaint has been registered and police action is being taken.

“Taking cognizance of the complaint against Mr. Manish Bidhuri & Ravi Dayama for violation of MCC, legal case u/s 126 RP Act has been registered against them in PS Govindpuri,” South East Delhi DCP tweeted.

Police have also registered a case against Atishi and AAP supporters for gathering in the constituency despite prohibitory orders in force. “On 4/2/25 at 12:30 am, Ms. Atishi, AAP candidate from Kalkaji (AC-51) with 50-70 people & 10 vehicles was found at Fateh Singh Marg, Govindpuri. Police instructed them to vacate due to MCC and prohibitory orders. FST & SST were called. On complaint of FST, a case u/s 223 BNS & 126 RP Act is registered at PS Govindpuri for violating Prohibitory orders & MCC,” DCP tweeted.

Police have also registered a case against two AAP workers for allegedly assaulting a police constable while he was videographing AAP workers gathered in the area.

Atishi accused the Election Commission and Delhi police of bias. Atishi charged the Commission and police took no action against Ramesh Bidhuri’s family who were openly violating the poll code. “I filed a complaint and called the police and @ECISVEEP, and they filed a case against me! Rajiv Kumar ji: How much will you ruin the electoral process,” Atishi tweeted.

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal condemned the cases against Atishi and AAP workers. Kejriwal charged Delhi police and Election Commission are indulging in hooliganism against AAP. “The ‘job’ of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission is to themselves indulge in hooliganism against the Aam Aadmi Party, provide protection to the hooliganism of the BJP, and distribute liquor, money and goods. If anyone stops them from doing this ‘work’, a case will be filed against him for obstructing the “work” of the police and the Election Commission,” Kejriwal alleged.
