Fresh developments have taken place in the probe into the alleged suicide of Delhi judge Aman Kumar Sharma, with a relative claiming that Sharma's dispute with his wife, Nidhi Malik, may have led to his death.

The Delhi Judicial Services official, who was in his early thirties, was allegedly found dead, hanging in the bathroom of his house.

A relative has now alleged that it was a dispute between Aman and his wife—both judicial officials—that eventually led to the former's death.

The relative, who is the father-in-law of Aman's sister, told ANI that Aman's father had left from Alwar on Friday night after Aman had phoned him to allegedly say that "he was distressed and it had become difficult for him to continue living".

Aman's father reportedly reached his son's home in Safdarjung, Delhi, at about 12 AM on Saturday.

"(Aman) told his father that he had been harassed for the last two months" by Nidhi Malik, an IAS officer currently posted in Jammu. The relative explained that Nidhi was Swati's sister.

According to the relative, Aman had allegedly said that Nidhi had been "interfering in his life" and "controlling his household".

"Aman's father said that his daughter-in-law told him that if you don't leave from here, she would call the police ... The next morning, Aman's father tried to contact his daughter-in-law's parents, but they had blocked his phone ... Then an argument broke out in the house. So Aman's father went to the other room," the relative explained.

The relative claimed that Aman's father had observed Swati was "extremely angry and shouting, while Aman was crying".

After the house went quiet again, the relative explained that Aman's father went back to check on Aman and Swati. However, Aman was nowhere to be found, and Swati allegedly told Aman's father that she "did not know" where her husband was.

Aman's father then called his son's phone, and allegedly heard it ringing inside a bathroom in the house. He knocked on the door, thinking Aman was inside, and asked him to open the door.

"During this, Yudhvir (Swati's chacha) and Nidhi Malik arrived. They tried a lot, banged the furniture against the door, but the door didn't open," the relative pointed out.

He concluded that it was only when the guard Shankar used a ladder to climb to the bathroom window, and broke it to enter the bathroom that he found Aman hanging.

However, Aman had allegedly been declared dead by the time he was rushed to the Safdarjung Hospital.

Officers from the Safdarjung Enclave Police Station had rushed to Sharma's house after receiving a PCR call on Saturday afternoon.

Since October 18, 2025, Sharma has been serving as the Full-Time Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at the Karkardooma Court in northeast Delhi.

"No foul play has been established so far. However, all angles are being examined as part of inquest proceedings," a senior police officer had said earlier, adding that the body has been sent for postmortem, and that further investigation is underway.
