A Kerala youth was arrested by the Police in Kozhikode for murdering his friend who allegedly tried to force himself on the accused. The victim was stabbed with a screwdriver before being stoned to death, Kerala-based media reports said.
The victim was identified as Shibin, a native of Malappuram district's Nellikkad. His face was smashed with a stone and a deep stab wound was found on his throat.
The accused Hijaz had confessed to the police of having killed his friend and the circumstances that led to the crime.
According to reports, Shibin along with his friend Hijaz and two others had gathered at a secluded ground in the Ramanattukara neighborhood of Kozhikode on Sunday evening. In an inebriated state, Shibin made a move on Hijaz against his wish. Despite being rejected several times, a drunk Shibin reportedly tried to force himself on Hijaz, a native of Kozhikode's Vaidyarangaidi. Hijaz reportedly retaliated violently after a while and this led to a spar between the friends.
Angered by the fact that his friend repeatedly tried to sexually molest him, Hijaz struck his friend with a screwdriver he had in his possession, leaving him profusely bleeding. As Shibin collapsed as a consequence of being stabbed in his throat, Hijaz killed him by landing multiple blows on his head with a giant rock, the reports added.
It was locals who told the police about the development after finding Shibin's lifeless body on the ground many hours later. Emptied liquor bottles and used glasses were found around him. Since the ground was often used by homeless migrants to camp, it was not till noon that somebody reached the scene and realised what happened.
