Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal charged the Bharatiya Janata Party is indulging in hooliganism in the national capital fearing defeat in upcoming Delhi Assembly polls. Kejriwal has written to the Election Commission demanding protection for AAP workers and action against erring Delhi police officers.
Addressing presspersons in Delhi, Kejriwal charged AAP cadres are being attacked and Delhi police have been instructed not to take any action. “BJP's seats are going down as the days pass and AAP is heading towards a historic victory. So, the entire BJP is rattled; people are being attacked and beaten up by their goons,” the former Delhi chief minister said.

Accusing the Delhi police of bias, Kejriwal said police have been directed to not take any action against attackers. “People of Delhi had never seen such an election. I appeal to the people of Delhi that we have to unite against this goondaism; Delhi can't tolerate this,” ANI reported quoting Kejriwal.
Earlier on Sunday, the AAP leader wrote a letter to the Election Commission demanding measures to ensure a free and fair assembly election. In his letter, Kejriwal highlighted recent incidents of alleged attacks on AAP workers and charged the BJP and Delhi police are threatening their grassroots workers.

Making four demands to the Election Commission, Kejriwal said, “Delhi police is targeting our volunteers by arbitrarily detaining, questioning, and harassing them, some are even wrongfully booked under various sections of BNS.” The AAP leader urged the EC must appoint independent observers for the election. “Special election observers should be deployed to monitor police activity on the night before polling day and to prevent unlawful detention,” he said.
Kejriwal added protection must be provided to the party’s key volunteers and agencies other than Delhi police must be utilised for providing security. The AAP leader sought strict action against “law enforcement officials found acting under political pressure to intimidate or suppress AAP volunteers”. He also sought legal action against alleged BJP workers for the attacks.
