“A former minister, who is in a responsible position and should have immense concern and respect for women, has used the lowest level of unconstitutional words against a woman minister in this esteemed house, which is an insult to the women of the country, their feelings and their dignity,” Chowdhary said in her letter to Horatti.
Karnataka police arrested Ravi on December 19 for his alleged obscene remarks against the minister during Congress’s protest in the house condemning Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments against Ambedkar in Parliament. The incident happened on the concluding day of the winter session of the Karnataka Assembly and he was brought to Bengaluru.
The Karnataka High Court rapped the state police for arresting Ravi without following due procedure and ordered his immediate release. The High Court observed the arrest was illegal.
