'Bhoot Bangla' Day 1 Box Office Collection: Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan reunion hints at a promising weekend

The total gross domestic collection of 'Bhooth Bangla' was recorded at Rs 15.75 crore while the worldwide collection stood at Rs 23.9 crore

With Akshay Kumar teaming up with director Priyadarshan after a 16-year hiatus, their reunion in Bhooth Bangla has seen a spike in advance bookings and it was reflected in the Day 1 collections too.

The paid previews of Bhooth Bangla raked in around Rs 3.5 crore from 2,485 shows with 30 per cent occupancy. On Day 1, Bhooth Bangla netted Rs 12.25 crore in domestic box office, according to Sacnilk. It sold 1.3 lakh tickets on the opening day.

The total net domestic collection of Bhooth Bangla was recorded at Rs 15.75 crore while the total gross domestic collection was Rs 18.9 crore. The horror comedy also raked in Rs 5 crore from overseas, taking the total worldwide gross collection to Rs 23.9 crore.

Bhooth Bangla is produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Cape of Good Films. Besides Akshay Kumar, the film also stars Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, Asrani, Mithila Palkar and Jisshu Sengupta.

The Akshay Kumar starrer was originally scheduled to release on April 10, but was later postponed by a week so that both Dhurandhar 2 and Bhooth Bangla get enough viewers. On Day 1, the movie played in 12,382 shows.

Compared to this, Dhurandhar 2 was playing in 4,432 shows on its Day 30 compared to 8,654 shows just a day ago. Dhurandhar 2 collected Rs 2.7 crore on Day 30, taking the total net domestic net collections to Rs 1,105.82 crore.

The total gross domestic collections stood at Rs 1,323.73 crore. The Ranveer Singh starring spy thriller also raked in Rs 417.25 crore from overseas screens, taking the worldwide earnings to Rs 1,740.98 crore. It needs less than Rs 2 crore to beat the worldwide record of Pushpa 2.
