Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's alleged link with billionaire George Soros dominated both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Thursday with BJP and Congress trading accusations. While the Lok Sabha saw repeated disruptions on Thursday, the Upper House had to be adjourned after BJP chief J P Nadda attacked the Congress for the party's alleged nexus with US hedge fund tycoon George Soros.

Congress member Gaurav Gogoi's statement that the BJP was using the "Soros issue" to divert attention from the Cenre's failures in Manipur triggered chaos in Lok Sabha. BJP leader and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal hit back at Gogoi, reiterating allegations that Congress leadership had links with Soros-backed outfits that were working to destabilise India.

The Rajya Sabha too saw uproar over the Soros issue with J P Nadda cornering Congress, questioning the link between Sonia Gandhi and Soros. He also attacked the Congress for questioning the ruling given by chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Nadda slammed Congress for its links with Soros who he said was providing billions of dollars to destabilise India. "What is the relationship between Sonia Gandhi and Soros? The country wants to know," he said.

This triggered further uproar in the House following which Kharge stood up to respond. The Congress chief said the BJP wanted to "divert attention" from issues.

The Parliament premises also witnessed protests by both sides. The INDIA bloc held a protest on Adani issue with banners which read "We will not allow the selling of the country". RJD MP Manoj Jha accused the Centre of not allowing the Opposition to raise issues inside the parliament. "In a democracy, the opposition and ruling party both play their roles in the smooth functioning of Parliament. But the ruling party is not allowing us to raise issues inside the parliament that’s why we have to protest in the parliament premises,” Manoj Jha told ANI.

Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was also among the protesters.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday staged a counter-protest against Congress on the Parliament premises accusing the party leadership of having links with Hungarian-American billionaire philanthropist George Soros. Giriraj Singh held pictures of Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Soros.
