A Delhi court on Monday sent five persons, arrested in connection with the flooding and death of three IAS aspirants at a coaching centre in Delhi, to judicial custody for 14 days.
Those arrested included four co-owners of the Raju’s IAS Study Cicrcle at Rajinder Nagar and the driver of a car.
Police made the driver of the sports utility vehicle (SUV) an accused after his car drove through the flooded street, causing the water to swell and breach the gates of the coaching centre’s building and inundate the basement.
The court rejected his counsel’s plea that had no intention or knowledge of causing death.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police on Monday wrote to the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) seeking status of de-silting of drains near the coaching centre.
Police said they may question the MCD officials over allegations that the drainage system near the coaching centre was not working properly and a large quantity of rainwater got accumulated at the road.
A police officer was quoted by PTI as saying that they will also seek the details about the cleaning of the drains and the number of inspections carried out in the area.
