Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who was elected from both Rae Bareli and Wayanad Lok Sabha seats, said on Wednesday that he is still undecided on which constituency to give up.
The Congress leader, who made his first public appearance in Kerala after winning the general elections, said whatever decision he will take, both constituencies will be happy with it.
"I have a dilemma before me, whether I should be the MP of Wayanad or of Rae Bareli. What I will commit to you is that both Wayanad and Rae Bareli will be happy with my decision," the Congress leader said while speaking at a public meeting in Malappuram in the state.
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi said he does not receive any directions from the Almighty on what has to be done the way Modi does.
"I am a human being. My God are the poor people of the country. So, for me it is easy. I just talk to the people and they tell me what to do," Gandhi said.
The Congress leader further said PM Modi will now have to change his attitude because the people of India have sent him a clear message. "The people of Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and all other states showed the prime minister that he cannot dictate to the people of India what they want. The people of India also so the PM that the Constitution is our voice, do not touch it."
He claimed that the prime minister barely escaped in Varanasi and added that the people of Ayodhya have given a message that they do appreciate hatred and violence as the BJP was defeated there.
Faizabad sitting BJP MP Lallu Singh was defeated by SP's Awadhesh Prasad. Ayodhya falls under Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency.
He also said the fight in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls was for protecting the Constitution and in that fight, hatred has been defeated by love and affection, arrogance by humility.
