At least four persons lost their lives and three are currently receiving treatment at a Srinagar hospital after a boat capsized in the Jhelum River near Batwara in Srinagar on Tuesday morning.

According to locals from the Batwara—Gandabal area, a boat carrying children overturned early this morning, causing shock and trauma throughout the area. The rescued persons were rushed to Srinagar's SMHS Hospital for treatment.
A rescue operation was immediately launched, and seven individuals were evacuated to the hospital. Dr Muzaffar Zargar, the Medical Superintendent of SMHS, confirmed that four individuals have died in the incident, while three others are currently undergoing treatment.
The State Disaster Response Force team has been deployed, authorities said. The river had breached the banks after incessant rains battered the region for the last couple of days.
