Gourav Vallabh joined the BJP on Thursday hours after he quit the Congress, saying he can neither raise anti-Sanatan slogans, nor abuse "wealth creators" day in and day out.

Former Bihar Congress president Anil Sharma also joined the BJP in the presence of its national general secretary Vinod Tawde.

Vallabh, a Congress spokesperson often seen on news channels, shared his resignation letter written to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on social media platform X.

Earlier, Vallabh told ANI, “I was hurt by the silence of the Congress Party when some big leaders of the Alliance opposed Sanatana and the party's stand on Ram Mandir. In our country, the Congress party abuses the country's wealth creators day and night. I was clear about these things, and raised this matter at many places on the party platforms as well.”

In his resignation letter, Vallabh said, “I am not feeling comfortable with the directionless way in which the Congress Party is moving forward today. I can neither raise anti-Sanatan slogans nor abuse the wealth creators of the country in the morning and evening. That is why I am resigning from all posts and primary membership of Congress Party.” He added, “When I joined Congress, I believed that Congress is the oldest party in the country which respects youth and intellectual people and their ideas. But for some time, I felt that the party was not able to adjust with the youth having new ideas."
