Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal said that no jail can keep the Aam Aadmi party leader behind bars for long and he would come out soon.

Sunita Kejriwal read a message from the Delhi chief minister, in Enforcement Directorate’s custody, and said, “I appeal to all the workers of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that work of social welfare and public welfare should not stop with me going to jail. Don't hate the BJP people due to this. They are our brothers and sisters. I will come back soon.”

Kejriwal added, “There are several forces within and outside India that are weakening the country. We have to be alert, identify these forces and defeat them. Women in Delhi must be thinking that Kejriwal is behind bars, who knows if they would get Rs 1,000. I appeal to them to trust their brother, their son. There is no jail that can keep him behind bars for long. I will come out soon and keep my promise.”

In a post in Hindi on X, Sunita Kejriwal on Friday tweeted, "Modiji got your thrice-elected chief minister arrested due to his arrogance of power and is trying to crush everyone. This is a betrayal of the people of Delhi. Your chief minister has always stood with you. Whether inside (jail) or outside, his life is dedicated to the country. The public is supreme and knows everything. Jai Hind."

A Delhi court on Friday remanded Kejriwal on judicial custody till 28 March in connection with the excise policy case.

Leaders of the AAP and INDIA alliance, including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann protested in the national capital on Saturday condemning Kejriwal’s arrest. Mann said the whole country has been angry since Friday and the BJP wants to bring in dictatorship in India. Mann charged that the BJP is not letting the AAP government function in Delhi as their government was not formed in the national capital. “Since their government was not formed in Delhi, they are not letting the government function; the lieutenant governor has been given all the powers. In Punjab, their government was not formed, so the governor will interfere; in West Bengal, their government was not formed, so they want governor to rule. B.R. Ambedkar's constitution is in danger. I want to appeal to the 140 crore to come and assemble or else this country is going towards destruction,” Mann said.
