Haryana: BJP and Dushyant Chautala's JJP headed for a split?

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) government in Haryana seem to be heading for a split, amid speculations that the seat-sharing talks between the two parties have been inconclusive.

The BJP, reportedly, is against giving two seats to JJP in the state, which has 10 Lok Sabha seats.

Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) MLA Gopal Kanda claimed that the alliance was on the verge of a split. He also said that there would be another meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, after which the future course of action will be decided.

The two parties stitched together a post-poll alliance, along with the support of five independent MLAs, after the BJP fell short of the 46-seat majority mark in the 2019 assembly polls, despite emerging as the single largest party with 41 seats. JJP president and co-founder Dushyant Chautala was named the deputy chief minister.

Khattar has called an urgent meeting of the BJP MLAs, at his residence.
