Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the Congress will lose its national party status after the upcoming Lok Sabha polls as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to win over 400 seats in the election. He added Congress would disintegrate into several small parties after this election.
Talking to presspersons announcing the seat-sharing arrangement in Assam, Sarma said, "Congress is bound to be history. Congress will be segregated into various regional parties. The national status of Congress will diminish after this election because the NDA is heading to a 400-plus victory," ANI reported. Sarma added its workers will be demoralized after the polls and the party will not have a national leadership. “The workers will be completely demoralized. Congress will be segregated, there will be no national leadership and Congress will be fragmented into a state regional organization," Sarma said.
Announcing the seat-sharing arrangement for the 14 seats in Assam, Sarma said BJP will be contesting in 11 seats, AGP would contest in two seats - Barpeta and Dhubri, and UPPL will contest from Kokrajhar seat.
