To link the newly launched Etihad Rail with Dubai’s intracity public transport system, the Dubai Metro, Etihad Rail has opened a 375-metre pedestrian bridge that lets passengers travel between the UAE’s national railway network and the Dubai Metro’s Red Line on a single integrated ticket.

Passengers arriving at Al Yalayis Station on Etihad Rail can continue their journey within Dubai using the Metro, while those travelling from Dubai can access Etihad Rail’s national network via Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station.

As part of the integration, Etihad Rail has opened a 375-metre pedestrian bridge connecting Al Yalayis Station in Dubai with Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station. The walk between the two stations takes about five minutes and is supported by clear signage and directional boards.

The service also allows passengers to book their entire journey with a single ticket and QR code. However, because each service has its own operating arrangements, passengers are advised to review the terms and conditions for each leg before travelling. Tickets can be purchased through the Etihad Rail app and website, as well as from ticket vending machines at the station.

Mohammed Al Shehhi, Head of Projects at Etihad Rail, said: “Under the guidance of Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail, we continue to enhance the integration of the national railway network with Dubai’s public transport system, enabling passengers to travel seamlessly between cities and within the emirate.”

“The opening of the pedestrian bridge directly linking Al Yalayis Station and the Dubai Metro is an important step in this direction. It offers citizens, residents and visitors easier and more flexible transport options while improving access to key destinations. This integration will also strengthen connectivity between cities and economic and tourism hubs, create new opportunities for growth and investment, and support the UAE’s economic and tourism development while enhancing quality of life.”

Meanwhile, on October 2, Etihad Rail announced that it would add six trips between Abu Dhabi and Dubai over the weekend of October 3 and 4 in response to exceptionally high early demand. According to the Emirates News Agency, this added more than 1,000 seats across three trips on Saturday and a further 1,000 seats across three trips on Sunday.
