Road rage claimed another life in the national capital on Thursday when a cab driver was stabbed to death in full public view by three juveniles. One of the minors was apprehended by the Delhi Police in connection with the crime.

The shocking incident was reported in south Delhi's Mehrauli area, the police said. The victim was stabbed in the chest after he engaged in a war of words with three youngsters on a two-wheeler.

The victim was identified as Manoj Kumar (34), who worked as a cab driver for a Gurugram-based BPO. Kumar was in the middle of a ride when his vehicle got stuck in a traffic block in Mehrauli. Meanwhile, three boys on a bike started honking -- asking Kumar to give them space to pass. There was little the driver could do as the congestion made it impossible for him to move the car, PTI reported quoting police sources.

"On Thursday evening, he picked up five BPO employees from the Malviya Nagar area and then one from Mehrauli. Around 8:40 pm, three boys on a scooter came from behind and started honking at Kumar, asking for space to move ahead," PTI reported a senior police officer as saying.

The situation escalated when the three bike-borne juveniles got down and approached Kumar's cab. "Soon, a verbal spat ensued between the two sides. One of the scooter riders stabbed Kumar in the chest with a knife before fleeing from the spot with his accomplices," the police officer told the news agency.

Although he was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital, the cabbie was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

The cops later detained a minor, who was among the three on the bike. He reportedly confessed during interrogation and identified the other two involved in the crime.
