A four-month-old toddler who was attacked by stray dogs earlier this month in Hyderabad passed away on Sunday. The baby boy remained hospitalised ever since the incident took place on December 8, Friday.

The child reportedly belonged to a financially backward family that lived in a hut in Hyderabad's Shaikpet area. The parents of the toddler, both labourers native to Mahabubnagar district of Telangana, left for work after leaving the sleeping child in a cradle. The hut had no proper doors and was reportedly invaded by a pack of street dogs after the adults left.

One of the three dogs that entered the hut bit the baby -- causing serious head injuries. The child was taken to the hospital with bite marks on the face and forehead, a Hyderabad civic official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

The boy was subsequently admitted to a state-run hospital in the city where he died on Sunday while undergoing treatment, the official reportedly added.

Earlier in February, a four-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of stray canines in Hyderabad's Amberpet.
