Ahead of the Assembly elections in Rajasthan, the BJP has roped in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda to helm the campaign this week. The saffron party, hoping to wrest back power in the state, will release its manifesto this Thursday, which is said to focus on five dozen commitments.
The state will go to the polls on November 25.
The saffron party has scheduled the Prime Minister's campaign for two days, Wednesday and Saturday. Modi will address the party rally in Barmer on Wednesday and Bharatpur and Nagaur on Saturday.
Both Amit Shah and J P Nadda have a tight schedule in Rajasthan in the upcoming week with road shows and multiple rallies. Shah will be visiting Tonk, Rajsamand, Bundi and Ajmer districts, and Nadda will meet voters at Dausa, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.
'Sankalp Patra'
The BJP's manifesto, titled 'Sankalp Patra', will be released by Nadda in Jaipur this Sunday.
The Sankalp Patra is likely to include relief measures for government employees addressing wage disparities. There will also be benefits for the unorganised work sector and expansion of the Devnarayan scheme for religious site development, reported ANI.
The report, quoting party sources, said the party would also roll out five dozen commitments, including free education up to post-graduation for students. Welfare schemes like Ujjwala and Ladli Sister schemes will get a boost, with families covered under them likely to be offered affordable gas cylinders priced at Rs 450.
The party carried out a huge drive before forming the manifesto, which included the formation of a committee for collecting suggestions from across the state. Approximately one crore suggestions were gathered for the drive.
The manifesto panel included key figures such as Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, coordinator Ghanshyam Tiwari, co-coordinator Kirodi Lal Meena, and Union Minister Alka Singh Gurjar.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, who is in charge of the elections in the state, has expressed hope of BJP winning the Rajasthan election with a thumping majority. "In 2013, the party came to power with a record margin. This time, the BJP is aiming for the same," he said, adding that the party is confident of forming a strong and stable government in the state.
Last elections, the Congress won 99 seats while the BJP's campaign ended with 73 seats in the 22-member house.
