The Delhi police on Saturday arrested a man for murdering a Swiss national woman whose body was recovered near a Municipal Corporation school on Friday. The accused reportedly killed the Swiss woman allegedly suspecting her to have another relationship.

The deceased body was recovered near a Municipal Corporation of Delhi-run school in West Delhi's Tilak Nagar area. The deceased was identified as Lena Berger and her body was half-covered with a black garbage bag, police said.

According to Delhi police, arrested Gurpreet Singh was reportedly a friend of Berger and the accused is being questioned. The legs and hands of the woman, in her early 30s, were tied with metal chains, said police.

With the help of CCTV camera footage, police have established that the body was brought there in a car. "The registration number was accessed, and a team traced the vehicle's owner. The owner said she had sold the car two months ago," another official said, adding further investigations are underway.

Police said Singh met Berger in Switzerland and they became friends eventually. Singh, used to visit Switzerland often and he suspected Berger was having another relationship, police said.

According to police, Gurpreet Singh hatched a plan to murder Berger and she landed in India on October 11 on Singh’s invite. NDTV reported that Singh took the victim to a room, tied her hands and legs, and killed her. “Initially, he kept Berger's body in a car which he bought with the ID of a woman. However, when a foul smell started coming from the car, he threw her body on the road and fled from the spot,” NDTV reported.
