BJP leader Kirit Somaiya seeks probe after 'inappropriate' video goes viral

After BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya's alleged video in 'compromising position' goes viral, he wrote to Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking an inquiry on Tuesday.

He urged to verify the authenticity of the video that had gone viral.

In the video went viral, reportedly, after it was aired on a Marathi news channel on Monday.

The opposition including Shive Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar-led NCP leaders protested against Somaiya. They claimed that it is only a preview and there are many such videos to be aired on news channels.

They slammed the BJP leader and said that his “true face got exposed”.

Hitting out against Somaiya, Congress MLA Yashomati Thakur said that she can't even imagine how many women must have been harassed and tortured due to this clip, reported NDTV.

""Do not kill him with religion who is going to die by his karma."Exactly the same is happening. A lot more will happen. Let's see what happens," tweeted Shiv Sena (UBT) faction leader Sanjay Raut.

Meanwhile, the BJP leader said that it was a political conspiracy and he had never abused any woman.

“A video clip of me was shown on a news channel. Claimed that I have harrassed many women & many such video clips available & complaints received against Me..I have never abused any woman. Request @Dev_Fadnavis to investigate such allegations and verify the authenticity of Videos,” he tweeted.

A 'chappal maaro andolan' was held in Mumbai by Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP leaders after the video had gone viral.
