'Promised Gandhis that we will deliver Karnataka': D K Shivakumar emotional after Congress win

D K Shivakumar also won the Kanakapura constituency bagging over 72% votes

Karnataka Congress chief D K Shivakumar, a top contender for the post of Chief Minister, got emotional on Saturday as he celebrated the party's huge victory in Karnataka.  

Shivakumar, who broke down in front of reporters, said he had  assured Sonia Gandhi that he would deliver Karnataka. Recalling his arrest, Shiva Kumar said he cannot forget the day Sonia Gandhi visited him after the BJP jailed him. 

He also gave credit to all party workers and leaders for the victory. 

He said the people have reposed faith in the Congress and the leaders have also supported the party. 

Shivakumar also had a mammoth victory in Kanakapura Assembly constituency, bagging over 72 per cent share of votes.  He was pitted against R Ashoka of the Bharatiya Janata Party and B Nagaraju of the JD(S).

He had earlier too expressed confidence about Congress winning 141 seats and forming a government with a full majority.
