In connection with the investigation into the school-job-for-graft case, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Jiban Krishna Saha was detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday.

Since April 14, Saha was being questioned by the CBI officials in connection with the alleged illegal recruitments in West Bengal government aided schools.

Series of searches was conducted by the officials in Saha's residence and also in other locations directed linked to Saha, an MLA from Burwan constituency.

According to the officials, he will be taken to the investigative agency office in Kolkata for further questioning.

On Sunday, CBI fished out the mobile phone of the TMC MLA from a pond nearby his house. Officials said that he had thrown two phones into the pond and one of them was retrieved.

Reportedly, he had thrown the phone into the pond when the CBI officials were at his home.

Earlier, CBI officers conducted searches in six locations, including those of the chairperson of a trust in Kolkata, Purba Medinipur and Birbhum districts.

CBI also has raided former TMC block president Bibhas Adhikari in Birbhum district for his alleged involvement in the school job scandal.

On the instructions of the Calcutta High Court, the scam related to the recruitments are being investigated by the CBI officials.

Former Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee and his aides are also being questioned as part of the probe.
