Senior politician and eminent lawyer Kapil Sibal today announced his intent to launch a platform in which lawyers will be at the forefront to fight what he called was growing injustice in the country under the BJP government, the damage being dealt to Constitutional values and the spread of the RSS ideology through the Sangh Shakhas at the grassroots level.

Sibal, who parted ways with the Congress several months back, said the campaign being launched by him is called 'Insaaf Ke Sipahi', and it will formally begin with an event at Jantar Mantar on March 11. A website by the same name is already live and open for registration.

“Go to any lane or district or locality in the country, citizens and institutions have to deal with the erosion of the Constitutional guarantees that they are entitled to and dealing with injustice. Insaaf Ke Sipahi will fight against this injustice. It will have lawyers at the forefront...We have RSS Shakhas in every locality and they spread their ideology which again is only adding to injustice,” Sibal said at a press conference in New Delhi.

He insisted it will not be a political front, but he would expect political leaders, including chief ministers, to join him in the campaign.

The lawyer-turned-politician said he will present his vision of India at the March 11 event, where he expects all those who support the initiative to be present.

Sibal said the initiative is not aimed at launching a political party. He said he wants it to become a people's movement against the many injustices that the common man of the country has to face. His emphasis was on the allegedly negative developments that have taken place vis-a-vis the rights and liberties of people since 2014, when the BJP came to power at the Centre.

He said the many injustices being endured by the country since 2014 included the toppling of elected governments and the misuse of investigating agencies to put pressure on opposition parties. In this context, he described the Enforcement Directorate as the “government's valentine.”

“We can see that this government is versus citizens. We want a government that is for citizens,” he said.
