It's a positive sign: Arvind Kejriwal after Gujarat exit polls

In BJP's stronghold AAP getting 15-20 vote share is a big thing, he said

After the exit poll results, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that the prediction for the party in Gujarat is a "positive" sign. 

On the Gujarat exit polls, the Delhi chief minister said a new party like the AAP getting "15 to 20 per cent vote share" in a state considered the BJP's stronghold was a "big thing".

"It is a positive sign for us. Gujarat is considered the BJP stronghold. The AAP is a new party there and for a new party like us, getting 15 to 20 per cent vote share is a big thing," Kejriwal said. 

The exit polls had predicted BJP will retain Gujarat with a big win on the range of 117-151 seats. The AAP was projected to get two-13 seats, while the Congress was to get 16-51 seats. 

Meanwhile, Kejriwal thanked the people of Delhi for their faith in the AAP after the exit polls of MCD arrived. The exit poll had predicted a clear win for the part in the MCD polls. As many as 45 centres are set up for the counting. 

"I would like to congratulate the people of Delhi. They have again shown their faith in us. Let's wait for tomorrow (Wednesday)," Kejriwal said while talking to the reporters. 

The counting will start at 8 am amid tight security. Delhi recorded a voter turnout of 50.48 per cent. There are 250 wards in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and 1,349 candidates are in the fray in this election.

The counting centres are located in areas, including, Shastri Park, Yamuna Vihar, Mayur Vihar, Nand Nagari, Dwarka, Okhla, Mangolpuri, Pitampura, Alipur and Model Town.
