While addressing the 'Chintan Shivir' of home ministers of states on Friday, PM Modi said that law and order is directly linked to development, hence it is everyone's responsibility to maintain peace.

PM Modi also asked the states to review and amend the laws framed during pre-independence with the current context.

"Be it cybercrime or the usage of drone technology for the smuggling of weapons or drugs, we will have to keep working on new technology for them," said ANI reported quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the home ministers' meet in Haryana.

"With 5G, there will be manifold improvement in facial recognition technology, automatic number plate recognition technology, drone and CCTV technology. We will have to be ahead of the crime world," said Modi.

Modi also raised the idea of "One Nation, One Uniform" for police. He said it was a suggestion and he is not trying to impose it on the states. The prime minister said that he thinks that the identity of the police across the country could be identical.

Inorder to tackle crimes and criminals, he urged close cooperation among states.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that many crimes are happening from across the border like terrorism, narcotics smuggling, money laundering, and infiltration. Even drones are being used to smuggle arms and narcotics, he added.

The meet is aimed at providing a national perspective to policy formulation on internal security-related matters in accordance with the 'Panch Pran' (five pledges) announced by Modi in his Independence Day speech.

The event was inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday. While addressing the meeting, Shah asserted that the Narendra Modi government has recorded success on all fronts of internal security.

During the 'Chintan Shivir', a host of internal security issues, including checking cybercrimes, ensuring women's security and coastal security will be discussed, according to officials.
