Jammu and Kashmir government, on Friday, cancelled the recruitment of sub inspectors in J&K Police and ordered a CBI probe into an alleged scam.

The J&K Service Selection Board had conducted the examinations for the vacancies before Article 370 was revoked. After the list was announced, many aspirants alleged favouritism, following which a probe by a committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department R.K. Goya was launched.

Taking to Twitter, Manoj Sinha, J&K Lieutenant Governor, wrote,”JKP sub inspector recruitment has been cancelled and a CBI probe has been ordered.”.

He said the culprits involved in the fraudulent selection process will be brought to justice soon.

“It is the first big step in securing the future of our youth,” he said. ”The government will soon decide the future course of action for fresh recruitment.”
