Dissenting Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, who claimed that he has the support of 34 Sena MLAs and passed a resolution on Wednesday, reinstating himself as the leader of the Shiv Sena legislative party, said it is important to get out of the 'unnatural alliance' for the survival of the party. He has been demanding that Sena forms government in alliance with the BJP

Taking to Twitter, Shinde said the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance only benefitted the Congress and the NCP, while the Sena was sidelined.

He claimed that while the other parties were getting stronger, his party was being weakened in the past two-and-a-half-years.

“It is essential to get out of the unnatural front for the survival of the party and Shiv Sainiks,” he wrote, adding, “Decisions need to be taken now in the interest of Maharashtra.”

The rebellion by Shinde pushed the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government to the brink. The Sena has 55 members in the 288-member Maharashtra assembly.

Amid the political crisis, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said he was ready to quit his post if the rebel MLAs tell him that they don't want him to continue as CM.
