BJP MP and BJYM chief Tejasvi Surya, on Tuesday, claimed that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has become Hitler and alleged that she heads a dictatorial government.

The BJP Yuva Morcha had called for a protest march to Bikash Bhawan, the headquarters of the state education department, in protest against alleged irregularities in the recruitment of teachers in state government schools. The protest march was led by Surya, state BJYM president Indranil Khan and state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar.

Police used water cannons to stop BJP activists from entering Bikash Bhavan in Salt Lake area. The police had put up a three-layer barricade outside Bikash Bhawan and in the beginning tried to persuade the activists to stop their march. When they refused to disperse and broke through the first barricade, police resorted to the use of water cannons.

Surya said they came to Bikash Bhavan peacefully and organised a protest. "It is our constitutional right. We are being stripped of our right," he said.

"Land of Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore, land that had guided the country in education in the context of freedom movement is now sinking as far as education system is concerned. Yuva Morcha is protesting against the politicisation and corruption in our education system," news agency ANI quoted him as saying.

Sukanta Majumdar claimed that Banerjee has killed democracy in West Bengal. "We told Police to arrest or detain us but not resort to lathi-charge. But they did. Male cops attacked our women workers. As per my information, four workers need hospitalisation, one has already been hospitalised."
