Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the country was witnessing two kinds of politics  —one which favours the family, the other which keeps the nation moving ahead.

“For us, politics and national policy go hand in hand. We do not separate national policy from politics. There are two types of politics going on in the country. One is politics of devotion to the family and the other is of devotion to the nation,”Modi said while addressing the BJP workers on the occasion of party's 42 foundation day, on Tuesday.

Hitting out at the opposition parties, Modi said  some political parties, in different states, work only for the interests of their respective families. “In these family-oriented governments, the members of the family have power from the local bodies to the Parliament. These family parties do not allow the youth of the country to progress.”

Modi argued that it was only the BJP which was making the country aware of this challenge. “Our workers are using democratic means to fight against atrocities and violence committed by these (opposition) parties.”

He said the BJP's foundation was important for three reasons: the country was celebrating its 75 years of Independence; the global order is changing rapidly which is creating possibilities for India; and the BJP won in all four party ruled states, and after three decades, the number of members of a party in the Rajya Sabha has reached 100.

Modi said India has changed in the last a few years. “India now stands firm for its interests without any fear or pressure, even when the world was divided into two opposite poles.”

“The country has fulfilled the export target of more than $400 billion. Fulfilling this target during Covid-19 shows India's capability. India has administered more than 180 crore vaccine doses, and also given free ration to 80 crore poor.”

He lambasted the “vote bank” politics of the previous governments.  “Working for the upliftment of the poor, backward, women; these are the core values of our party. That is why today the poor, dalits, backward, tribals as well as women have rallied in favor of the BJP, they are a reflection of the strength of the new era.”

During the foundation day celebrations, BJP president J.P. Nadda hoisted flag at in the party headquarters. Speaking at the occasion, Nadda said BJP  was not only known as the world's largest political party, but also known for its social and humane works. “During the pandemic, crores of BJP workers reached out to the needy and sick people across the country on the clarion call of 'Sewa hi sangathan' given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Nadda credited Modi with changing political work culture of our country. “He has established culture of service to humanity. Under Prime Minister Modi, a pro-active, pro-poor and pro-responsive government is functioning in our country. We follow the mantra that ‘the glory of our motherland should always remain, with or without us’".

Nadda also lauded cadre for BJP's good performance in the recent assembly polls.
