Indrani Mukerjea, arrested for allegedly murdering her daughter Sheena Bora, said the woman government official, who told the accused that she saw Sheena in Kashmir, is ready to record her statement before the CBI. In a recent letter to the investigating agency, Indrani had claimed that Sheena was alive and asked it to look for her daughter in Kashmir.

"I have been informed by my client Indrani Mukherjea that a lady officer has informed her that she met Sheena Bora on June 24 near Dal Lake. This officer is ready to record her statement before CBI. We will file an application to direct CBI to conduct a fair probe," news agency ANI quoted Sana R. Khan, lawyer of Indrani as saying on Wednesday.

Sheena (24) was allegedly strangled in a car by Indrani, her then driver Shyamvar Rai and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna in April 2012. As per the CBI, Indrani disapproved of Sheena's relationship with Rahul Mukerjea, son of former media baron and her then husband Peter Mukerjea from an earlier marriage. She and Sheena also had financial dispute, the agency said.

Sheena's body was allegedly burnt in a forest in neighbouring Raigad district. The murder came to light in 2015.

In her letter, Indrani had claimed that the woman government official told her that she had seen Sheena while on vacation in Srinagar.

Indrani is expected to move an application in this regard before the special CBI court in Mumbai on December 28, the next date of hearing in her case.
