The Karnataka government on Tuesday issued an advisory, urging people to defer their plans to visit Kerala, if there is no emergency or urgency, till the end of October in view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the neighbouring state.

The advisory also asked educational institutions and administrators of business establishments to instruct their wards and employees to defer or postpone travelling from Kerala to Karnataka and vice versa till the end of October.

All administrators or owners of hospitals, nursing homes, offices, hotels, factories and industries have also been given similar advice.

"This is in order to avoid a third wave of COVID-19 in Karnataka in the larger interest of public health," it said.

Kerala on Tuesday reported 25,772 new COVID-19 cases pushing the caseload in the state to 42,53,298. The TPR was found to be 15.87 per cent after testing 1,62,428 samples in the last 24 hours, according to a press release.

Kerala had witnessed over 30,000 daily cases for several days until September 3 from when the cases started showing a steady decline. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said that the government has decided to do away with the night curfew and the "stringent intensified" restrictions on Sundays.
