Jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh 'Insaan' was taken to the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Sunday after he fell ill. Ram Rahim Singh later tested positive for COVID-19.

Ram Rahim Singh is serving a 20-year jail term for raping two of his women disciples. He was convicted in August 2017 by a special CBI court in Panchkula. His conviction triggered violence outside the court premises, leaving 32 dead and around 250 injured.

Last week, Ram Rahim Singh had undergone some tests at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, after he complained of abdominal pain.

On Sunday, Honeypreet Insaan, a follower whom Ram Rahim claimed was his adopted daughter, was brought to the hospital and an attendant card was issued to her, according to reports.

The Tribune reported Honeypreet will stay with Ram Rahim Singh till June 15. On Sunday, The Tribune reported, "Ram Rahim has not been very cooperative and allegedly refused giving samples for test. He is insisting on meeting Honeypreet and his family and to have them by his side."

Over the years, reports had claimed Honeypreet was romantically involved with Ram Rahim Singh.

Honeypreet was arrested in October 2017 in connection with the violence outside the Panchkula court. She received bail in November 2019.
