Hours after the Centre removed her from the post of lieutenant-governor of Puducherry on Tuesday, Kiran Bedi expressed satisfaction with her work in the Union territory.

Bedi, who was appointed in May 2016 as lieutenant-governor of Puducherry, was removed on Tuesday evening. President Ram Nath Kovind has given additional charge of Puducherry to Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.

The direction from the president came amid a political crisis in Puducherry where the ruling Congress-led government was reduced to a minority after one more MLA quit the party on Tuesday.

Bedi and the government of V. Narayanasamy had been at loggerheads ever since she assumed office. The Congress has accused Bedi and the Narendra Modi government of attempting to sabotage the Narayanasamy government's work.

On Wednesday morning, Bedi put up two tweets. In one tweet, she posted a brief video of what she described was the "cover of a diary”. The cover had the words "kind heart, fierce mind, brave spirit". The post apparently alluded to Bedi's image as an "independent" police officer.

Bedi also uploaded a letter of gratitude on the official letterhead of the Puducherry lieutenant-governor. In the letter, she thanked the Centre for "a life time experience in serving Puducherry".

Bedi declared, "I can say with deep sense of satisfaction that during this tenure 'Team Raj Nivas' diligently worked to serve larger public interest."

Bedi noted, "Whatever was done, was a sacred duty, fulfilling my constitutional and moral responsibilities." Bedi added, "Puducherry has a very bright future. It's now in the hands of the people..."

Narayanasamy on removal

Meanwhile, in an interview to The Indian Express, Narayanasamy alleged Bedi had been working in an "autocratic manner" and running a parallel government.

Narayanasamy told The Indian Express, "The removal of Dr Kiran Bedi has been a long-pending demand of the people of Puducherry, because she was behaving in an autocratic manner (by) violating rules of business. (She was) trying to run a parallel government, making field visits without the knowledge of the chief minister and ministers, issuing independent orders against the wishes of the elected government, blocking welfare schemes..."

Narayanasamy said "The people know that she was encouraged by the BJP government at the Centre, and BJP leaders in Puducherry. Therefore, the people of Puducherry will reject the BJP in the elections."

He alleged, "Whatever damage had to be done, she has done—it cannot be rectified."
