The proposed Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya would be about 360 feet tall, said Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai in Lucknow on Friday. The width of the structure will be 235 feet while the shikhar (spire) will measure 161 feet.
Rai said the load testing of the mandir construction site has failed, adding that that "many scientists" from the Indian Institutes of Technology were researching the issue.
The temple will be surrounded by a security wall spanning five acres. A total of four lakh cubic feet of stone will be used in the construction of the temple that will not make any use of any iron.
The process of the cleaning of the stones—a pink sandstone variety brought from Bansi Paharpur in Rajasthan—is currently underway.
On Wednesday, Rai had said that a Shri Ram Mandir Nidhi Samarpan drive will run from January 15 to February 27. "After the martyrs, now is the turn of time-givers and fund contributors," he had said.
The drive will seek the support of every Ram devotee across the country. Workers of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and saints will go from door to door and reach out to 110 million families in 400,000 villages to connect the common man with the mandir.

"With the support of people of every caste, creed, sect, region and language of the country, the Ram temple would actually take the form of a Rashtra Mandir(Temple of the nation)," he said.
Engineers from IIT Mumbai, IIT Delhi, IIT Chennai, IIT Guwahati, CBRI Roorkee, Larsen & Toubro and Tata are working on the drawing of the foundation. The foundation configuration and layout will be released soon. "Funds cannot be a hindrance in the work of God. In order to maintain transparency in the financial dealings and transactions, the trust has printed coupons and receipts of denominations of Rs 10, Rs 100 and Rs 1,000. Karyakartas will issue coupons or receipts according to what the society contributes. The picture of Bhagwan Sri Ram’s temple will reach millions of homes," Rai said.
