The AIADMK has announced incumbent Chief Minister Eddapadi Palaniswami as its chief ministerial candidate for the 2021 Tamil Nadu polls. The announcement came after worries of a growing feud between the factions of Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.

Panneerselvam made the announcement that Palaniswami would be the chief  ministerial candidate of the AIADMK on Wednesday morning at a much awaited meeting at the AIADMK office in Chennai.

Palaniswami announced the AIADMK had constituted a 11-member steering committee for the polls.

There had been demands by supporters of Panneerselvam that he be made the chief ministerial candidate.
