Refusing to soften his stand on sealing of the Haryana-Delhi border, state Home Minister Anil Vij has mandated production of a COVID-19 negative certificate for those who must cross the state border in the line of their work.

Vij said that the state respected Delhi High Court's order for hassle-free movement of essential service providers but wanted to safeguard the people of the state. People who are routinely going to travel between Delhi and Haryana for jobs will have to submit the certificate while applying for e pass.

“We will respect High Court's order and allow essential service providers and not quarantine them but they will have to produce a medical certification saying they carried no infection and had no need for any safety measures. To ensure the authenticity of entire travel, the employer will have to submit a list of employees seeking e-passes”, added Vij.

Earlier, the state government had declared rapid testing of all entering Haryana from Delhi but owing to resource and staff crunch the idea has been dropped and now the state wants Delhi to take the initiative to facilitate the travel of residents to Haryana for work.

On May 14, the state government told the Delhi High Court that e-passes 'shall be issued' to all essential service providers “within 30 minutes of receipt of the applications”. They had certified that the passes will be valid for the entire duration of the lockdown and can be used for multiple visits.

With 11 new cases, Gurgaon has been adding seven new cases per day on average, taking the district's tally to 204. Faridabad's tally reached 147 with three new infections reported today while Sonipat's stands at 135. It may be noted that these three border districts with Delhi have reported almost 500 out of the total 887 cases in the state.
