Hardik's hunger strike: Cong leader Shaktisinh Gohil seeks PM's intervention

Congress in-charge for Bihar Shaktisinh Gohil on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and initiate steps to end the indefinite hunger strike of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader

Gohil's appeal came on day 10 of the PAAS leader's agitation even as the latter refused to get a medical checkup done. Following Patel's refusal, an ICU on wheels was stationed outside his residence.

Gohil, who called on Patel, told reporters that he appealed to the PM to intervene. Claiming that he is worried about the health of the PAAS leader, the Congress leader said it was because of the support of Patidars Modi became the prime minister.

Patel is demanding reservation for Patidars in jobs and education. He is also demanding waiver of loans for farmers.

During the last 10 days, Patel has been visited by representatives of the TMC, AAP, the Congress and independent MLA Jignesh Mevani. Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar too had come to meet him, but Patel refused to meet her.

On Monday, Patel thanked New Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav for supporting him.

BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha and former Union minister Yashwant Sinha are expected to call on him. Former VHP leader Pravin Togadia, in a letter to Patel, urged him to end his fast.

Patel took to social media to say he would not die until farmers get justice.
