Even if External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday declared that the standoff between India and China at Doklam in 2017 was “resolved through diplomatic maturity without losing any ground", Congress chief Rahul Gandhi doesn't seem too impressed.

Gandhi tweeted on Thursday that Swaraj had “buckled and prostrated herself” in front of Chinese power. His tweet also added, “Absolute subservience to the leader means our brave jawan has been betrayed on the border.” The 'leader' term appears to be a veiled reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gandhi attached an article from a website that quoted a US official as saying China had resumed its activities at Doklam and neither India or Bhutan had acted to dissuade Beijing. Gandhi had used the Doklam issue and reports that China was resuming its activities in the region to target Modi on national security previously. Doklam came up in Gandhi's speech during the no-confidence motion against the Modi government on July 20.

On Wednesday, Swaraj told the Lok Sabha there has been no change in the status quo at Doklam. India and China were locked in a face-off in the Doklam area of the Sikkim sector for over 50 days from June to August 2017 after Indian troops stopped the Chinese Army from building a road in the area.

China claimed it was constructing the road within their territory in Doklam, which India had objected to, saying the territory does not belong to China.
